Military & Veteran Care

Specialized treatment for those who served.

As a veteran-owned practice, we understand the experiences of active duty service members, veterans, and their families. Our clinicians are fluent in military culture and trained in evidence based care for post traumatic stress, moral injury, combat trauma, and co-occurring substance use.

  • Trauma focused protocols paced to nervous system capacity
  • Explicit clinical attention to moral injury, not only fear based trauma
  • Substance use and trauma treated concurrently, never in sequence
  • Coordination with VA and military treatment facility providers

Meet Your Provider

Elena Vargas, MD

Medical Director · MD, Board-Certified Psychiatrist

Dr. Vargas oversees all psychiatric services at Royce Recovery, from initial diagnostic evaluation through ongoing medication management and monitoring.

Her practice emphasizes conservative, well explained prescribing and close collaboration with the clinical team, so that medication always supports therapeutic work rather than substituting for it.

She has particular clinical interest in mood disorders, treatment resistant depression, and the psychiatric care of adults with co-occurring substance use disorders.
